Cosmetic Acupuncture

Q: How does Cosmetic Acupuncture work?

A: What sets cosmetic acupuncture apart from traditional aesthetic services is the fact that acupuncture treats the underlying causes of skin issues and may effectively slow down the aging process from within. It not only addresses specific area(s) of concern but also the skin’s overall health. Beyond the beauty benefits of creating softer and firmer skin, reducing deep wrinkles, improving jowl lines, helping heal acne and acne scars, acupuncture can also help improve digestion, sleep quality, reduce hot flashes, eliminate mild depression and anxiety and improve energy!

Q: How is an Acupuncture Facial different from Esthetic Facials?

A: Facial acupuncture is anti-aging. It relaxes the muscles of the face and boosts collagen to reduce wrinkles. It also increases circulations and boosts elastin to firm and tone the face. It promotes detoxification to leave you with a clearer, more even complexion.

Q: What is a typical course of treatment?

A: While each individual will respond differently, the effects of Acupuncture rejuvenation are cumulative. Patients have a course of treatment done two times per week for five weeks. Most acupuncturists find that in order to obtain real results, the process takes at least ten treatments. People begin to notice results somewhere between the fifth and seventh session. Maintenance may be needed by the individual based upon factors such as age, type of skin, overall health, any history of sun damage, diet, lack of exercise, etc. We may choose to do maintenance, which could be once every month to just four times a year, depending on individual needs and responsiveness. With proper maintenance acupuncture can last 3 to 5 years Cosmetic acupuncture treatments generally take between forty-five to sixty minutes.

Microneedling Acupuncture Facials

Q: What is a Microneedling Acupuncture?

A: Traditional Chinese Medicine ‘TCM’ has been using acupuncture needling for thousands of years to treat skin laxity, fine lines, wrinkles and other signs of aging because it is so effective at stimulating and correcting collagen production. With modern technology microneedles are so small that they can be grouped together in a microneedling pen. The pen helps to increase the surface absorption and utilization of nutrients from the topical serums applied on the skin by 3000%. This speeds up the natural increases in collagen levels improving your skin’s tone and texture.

Q: What is the difference between Microneedling versus Nanoneedling

A: Our Acupuncturists are trained to perform both procedures. Microneedling is better at
treating wrinkles, age spots, scars, skin tone and acne. Results are seen within days after the treatment. Skin should glow and feel tighter. Microneedling is typically done once a month whereas Nano-needling can be done weekly. Nanoneedling is also done in sensitive areas around the eye and lips.

Q: What are typical results?

A: You may begin to see results in approximately 6 to 8 weeks; improvements in the skin and collagen production will continue over the next year. With a series of treatments the effect is cumulative.

Q: What are the immediate after effects?

A: After a Microneedling treatment there will be some redness which will vary by person. This can be slight pink or a deeper red similar to a sunburn and can last for a few hours or 2-3 days. Some people may experience some swelling or soreness, again similar to a sunburn, or have an increased itching sensation which can last for a few days. The itching is more common in people who suffer from allergies due to the skin’s natural histamine response. More people prefer to do the treatments towards the end of the day so they can go straight home and have time to quiet their skin before returning to work the next day.
To reduce these after effects we use a nutrient serum and cooling mask after the treatment which typically will reduce these symptoms. After a treatment the skin will be dryer for up to one week. Since we are making very small channels in the skin, which normally holds in moisture, this is expected. It is very important to keep the skin hydrated during this time.
